“Water rolls, water rises/El agua rueda, el agua sube” Pat Mora

Rated 4 stars **** 2014. Children’s Book Press (Lee & Low.) Picture book. Includes “Author’s Note,” and a section titled “About the images in the book.”

WaterRollsWaterRisesInspired by real life landscapes from her many trips around the world, author Pat Mora’s lyrical, descriptive, bilingual voice is complemented by soothing drawings of the many faces and motions of water.

Descriptive words about water like “rolls, rises, waves, strokes, blows, and slithers” produce all sorts of movements, inspiring young children to reproduce these actions while also learning about water’s importance to the world and those within it.

Recommended for ages 4-9.

As a School Librarian, I was Co-Chair of REFORMA's (The National Association to Promote Library Services to the Latinos and Spanish Speaking) CAYASC (Children & Young Adult Services Committee) for 2 yrs. As Co-Chair, I was in charge of all things YA. I have been a member of YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association) for many years, and have worked as a school librarian for many years. When I'm not blogging, I like to read, run, race and sing - not necessarily in that order. My blog reviews books I enjoyed (or didn't enjoy), which leaves you to ask yourself "Should I Read it or Not?"
